Enjoy a virtual jewelry exhibition tour at Victoria & Albert Museum Photo copyright Victoria & Albert Museum.   Today, I invite you to explore the numerous virtual jewelry exhibitions available through the websites of the world's best museums. Many of them closed their doors in response to Covid-19. However, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on the rich cultural gifts they offer. Thankfully, their websites remain accessible. So, while you sit on the couch in your pajamas, you can enjoy some of the most famous jewels in the world.

'More is More' at the GIA

Emphasizing the unique aesthetic of jewelry designer Tony Duquette, More is More invites you into the eclectic, fascinating world of this multi-talented man. "If it's not fabulous, it's meaningless," Tony said. Not only is his jewelry fabulous, but the GIA curated a fabulous tribute to his place in jewelry art history. Antique birdcages, meaty succulents, and tridents of richly colored coral serve as props to show off his bold statement jewels. And behind everything hangs verdant green, malachite-inspired fabric drapes. As delicious as the sets Tony designed during the Golden Age of Hollywood, More is More delivers a feast for the senses. The National Museum, New Delhi

Featuring the largest collection of jewelry in India, the National Museum, New Delhi, offers photos and descriptions of many of their jewels. The museum reminds visitors that India remained the sole source of gemstones for centuries. As such, the museum stewards pieces of jewelry history that no one else possesses. Click here to read all about this fascinating history, and view close-up images of the pieces on display. For further exploration, click directly on an image in the gallery to read more about the jewel, as well as to see details under magnification. I encourage you to spend some time exploring all that the virtual world offers in your slower days ahead. Some offer three-dimensional tours, while others offer photographic explorations like the ones I mentioned here. For more options, just do a search for virtual exhibitions. ~Angela Magnotti Andrews
