Vicki Gunvalson Engagement Ring Details

Their extremely public relationship began in April 2016. Lodge proposed in April of this year. Perhaps he chose their first date anniversary to pop the question. That is a romantic idea.

Apparently, Vicki Gunvalson has been window shopping for engagement rings for the past year. (source) “I’ve got on Pinterest and I’ve picked out about five of them. It’s just going to be something really unique," she told People. Unique is precisely the direction they went with their final choice. Several sources claim the central diamond weighs 5.5 carats. To help put that into perspective, the dazzling rock in the above photo weighs 2.04 carats. Gunvalson posted a photo of her ring on Instagram, but failed to mention any details about it. Based on the facets and the dazzle, I would guess its either a transitional cut (which would make it an antique stone), or it's a modern cut I haven't seen yet. Whatever the shape, it is highly faceted with brilliant fire. Rather than choosing the fashionable pave setting for the band, Lodge opted for prong-set round brilliant accent diamonds to line the entire band. Bling, bling, bling!  

The Proposal

According to Extra, Vicki Gunvalson denied any plans for engagement back in February, a mere two months before Lodge proposed. Either he surprised her, or she was deflecting. According to Us Magazine, it was the former. Us provides the only details about the proposal, offered to them by an unnamed source. (source) The night began with a romantic dinner, probably cooked by Lodge. He then completely shocked her when he dropped to one knee and presented her with the ring. Reportedly, he secured permission from his own children, as well as hers, before proposing. Clearly, they offered their consent.  

Who Are They?

For those of you who skip reality TV, you may not know that Vicki Gunvalson is a star on Bravo TV, on their show Real Housewives of Orange County. RHOC for short. For 10 years, fans of RHOC watched Gunvalson live as a housewife, only to have two marriages end in divorce. In 2016, when she and Lodge started dating, fans watched as a new kind of love developed for the star. In September 2017, she shared her thoughts about their relationship on Bravo's Daily Dish: "Well, I definitely want to get married again ... I want to be 100%, 100%, 100% sure. I do not want to go through another heartache or divorce. So Lord knows I've gone through two relationships on camera, been married twice before, so I really don't want to jump into it. But so far, all the signs are he's a keeper." In addition to her commitments to Bravo, Gunvalson runs Coto Insurance, a firm offering financial planning services in addition to insurance. She and her team aim to solve the problems many face in planning for retirement. They also provide solid advice about other wealth management strategies. Meanwhile, Lodge describes himself on Instagram as a veteran who also retired from police work. During his career, he served as a homicide detective, as well a police commissioner. He also served as a public policy advisor. The happy couple met at a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of America in Anaheim, California.
