A 29-carat, pear-shaped natural white pearl serves as the central pendant for this exquisite Alexandre Reza necklace. Just above it, a suite of diamonds, the central fancy intense yellow diamond weighing 2.5 carats and the three rose-cut diamonds weighing a total of 12 carats {cited}, serve as an elaborate centerpiece for this 5-strand pearl necklace. The five connecting strands are laced with hundreds of pea-sized pearls exhibiting absolute perfection in color, shape, and lustre. According to Sotheby's, this necklace, along with a pair of captivating earrings fashioned out of platinum with four magnificent old mine Colombian emeralds set in over 14 carats of diamond baguettes, was designed by Olivier Reza, who in 2008 succeeded his father at the helm of the Maison Alexandre Reza to carry "the Reza name to the next generation of collectors and connoisseurs with his exciting new designs" {cited}. These stunning works of timeless contemporary jewelry art will be on display with over 20 other "vignettes" in a special exhibition hosted by Sotheby's. The Legendary Jewels of Alexandre Reza celebrates the legacy of the legendary gemstone expert and jewelry designer, going back 40 years. In partnership with Olivier Reza, Sotheby's has "carefully curated" an exhibition that showcases Olivier's contemporary jewels arranged carefully beside the superb craftsmanship of his father {cited}. Sotheby's announced that the vignette-style exhibition will commence its tour at Sotheby's in New York on November 1, 2013. Its tenure in The Big Apple will be brief, lasting only until November 14, 2013, after which time the exhibition will travel to Sotheby's global offices in London, Doha, and Beijing, running until an as yet unspecified date in 2014. The Alexandre Reza maison holds court at the Place Vendôme in Paris, a fitting setting for a house that David Bennett, Chairman of Sotheby's Europe & Middle East Jewelry Division, believes "forms an integral and important part of the history of post war jewellery" {cited}. Jewelry connoisseurs and collectors will not want to miss this spectacular opportunity to see in person the divine perfection of the work of Alexandre Reza, past and present.
