Meet Seattle Jewelry Designer Kimberly Baker

Meet Seattle Jewelry Designer Kimberly Baker
Kimberly Baker Good Girl Bad Girl Earrings   Kimberly Baker started making jewelry for herself as a hobby. Of course, she wore her creations while working as a makeup artist. Her unique, subversive style appealed to her clientele, who began buying the pieces right off her body. In 1997, she launched her first jewelry showroom in Fremont in Seattle. Although she recently relocated to the pastoral serenity of Vashon Island, she continues to create empowering jewelry for women who desire courage and personal empowerment.

Starting Out

Kimberly Baker made her first piece in her high school metalsmithing class. Inspired by the work of Alexander Calder, she fashioned a pair of hammered sterling hoops. (source) She continued taking jewelry classes in high school and at North Seattle Community College. Though she faltered in her belief that she could make a living with her art, she succeeded in finding an outlet to sell her designs at Les Amis, in Seattle. Frequently selling her work straight off her person, she eventually decided to leap into a career as a full-time jewelry designer. She opened her jewelry showroom in 1997, in Fremont, one of Seattle’s most vibrant artist communities. In 2014, she closed her storefront and moved her studio away from the bustle of the big city to Vashon Island, where she enjoys a simpler, more intentional lifestyle.   Kimberly Baker Charm Bracelet
