For each gift she received, she drew an upgrade and then took it to a local bench jeweler to alter it for her. Then, when they welcomed their daughter Eden to the family, Gwen found inspiration for a bracelet with Eden's name on it. Not surprisingly, her friends started asking her to make bracelets for them. And Eden Presley Jewelry was born.  

Tiny Works of Art

Gwen considers every single jewel she creates a tiny work of art. Hence, an array of colorful gemstones becomes a painter's palette. And ear wires and connectors become blank canvases. More artist than technician, Gwen admits that she works without any formal training. "I'm self-taught," she told Forbes. Making what she likes rather than what is expected, she routinely pairs precious with semi-precious gemstones and rough with faceted stones. Thus, she works with a broader palette of textures, colors, and shapes. With a bold and daring spirit, Gwen fuses classic motifs with unusual contemporary elements. Rather than thumbing her nose at tradition, she fuses classical elements with contemporary style and design principles. As a result, Eden Presley jewels become chic and timeless heirlooms.  

The Gwen Myers Process

Not surprisingly, Gwen's process is as unique as her designs. For Gwen, each jewel begins as a picture in her mind. Once she commits it to paper as a drawing, she begins the process of designing the jewel. First, she looks for shapes in the design for which she already has the wax molds. She shoots those molds and then uses a wax wand to adhere the shapes together into the new form. (source) Next she hands the molds off to her jewelers in the Diamond District. These skilled craftsmen render her ideas in 14k gold and silver. (source) Next, Gwen chooses gemstones for the jewel. Though she gravitates toward stones with an iridescence, such as opal, moonstone, and labradorite, Gwen loves all gemstones. "I appreciate their different strengths, temperaments, characters, and inherent flaws that often make them more beautiful," she told Bejeweled Magazine. At the end of her unique process, Gwen presents jewels awash with contrasting colors and textures.
