Victorian and Edwardian Era 1837-1910 - Victorian rings were crafted of yellow gold, the Halo was popular, and the tradition of engagement/wedding rings became widespread. Edwardian rings had floral patterns in ornate platinum filigree. Art Deco Era 1915-1930's - Platinum and highly detailed, often with colored stone accents. Hand crafted mil-grain with symmetrical, geometric, and architectural designs. Retro Period 1940's - Yellow and rose gold rings came back big, transitional cut diamonds were common. 18K white gold became a popular white metal option. Mid Century 1950-1980's - Heirloom rings were often used for engagements. Many vintage engagement rings feature older antique family diamonds that were reset into current styles.
