Old European and Mine Cut Diamond Jewelry

The Old European cut diamond or “Old Euro” was the primary diamond shape used in Art Deco jewelry design from 1915-1930's. Old Mine cut or “Miner Cut” diamonds were used in Victorian and Edwardian era jewelry and rings. There is some overlap between the periods as both diamond cuts coexisted. Many old cut Heirloom diamonds are often repurposed and set into modern jewelry. Antique diamonds often show warmth in color as many of the whiter old diamonds have been recut into modern round brilliants.
