Vintage jewelry items are currently trending, especially now that more collectors are on the lookout for precious metals and colorful gemstone centerpieces. If you're hoping to get your hands on some luxurious pieces before your summer formal events, you might want to stay informed about trade-in shows and exhibits across the country.
According to Aiken Standard, Floyd and Green Jewelers from Aiken, South Carolina, is holding its first annual vintage, estate and trade jewelry show this weekend. This event will feature three separate collections of vintage jewelry with mid-percentage markdowns, as well as exotic and local pieces from museums and private vaults. The most prominent items on display will be an Art Nouveau opal and diamond brooch, which is valued at approximately $88,000.
"A year ago, we weren't even in this business," Steve Floyd, co-owner of Floyd and Green Jewelers, told the news source. "We sort of backed into it through our appraising business. We'd always worked with lawyers and estates, because we have an AGS Certified Appraiser, and from time to time a family would say 'make us an offer.'"
