The Old European cut diamond or “Old Euro Cut” was the primary diamond shape used in the Art Deco Era. Old Mine cut diamonds or “Miner Cut” were used in Victorian and Edwardian Eras. There is some overlap between the periods when both antique diamond cuts coexisted. Transitional Cut diamonds were the common cut in the 1940's. Diamond cutting and technology advanced quickly then to the modern round brilliant cut. Many old cut heirloom diamonds and old family stones are often repurposed and set into modern styles.
